Downtown Vancouver’s first container market will open with 25+ vendors and a bar

Vancouver’s newest outdoor market is opening its doors next week, and we can’t contain our excitement any longer.

Junction Public Market, a new downtown marketplace taking over Granville Square just steps from Canada Place, is launching on Friday, June 28.

The unique shopping and dining destination will be constructed with customized shipping containers. The spot allows you to shop local artisans, treat yourself to the plentiful food vendors and a bar, take in live entertainment, and much more.

Best of all, Junction Public Market will be free to visit!

“Junction Public Market enjoys sweeping vistas of where the mountains and the ocean meet, overlooking the Port of Vancouver,” said Patrick Carnegie, a longtime public space manager and the co-founder of Junction Public Market, in a release. “We can see shipping containers being offloaded next door, which is echoed by our design motif.”

“We’re in the heart of downtown, with commuters hustling to Waterfront Station and visitors disembarking from the cruise ships. This is the perfect spot for us to create a destination, like a piazza, where everyone comes to meet, shop, and enjoy a taste of Vancouver.”

Junction Public Market has partnered with Cadillac Fairview to select the location, which is next door to Waterfront Station, above a 441-space parking garage, and close to the seawall bike path and the cruise ship terminal.

Some of the food and merch vendors announced for this summer include Yo Bones BBQ, PacifiCraft Candles, Bao Buns, Kedi Silver, Focacciaza, Seaside Ice Box, and Living Lotus Chocolate. The market is still accepting vendor applications for 2024, with a rotating lineup of local artisans and food trucks also appearing daily.

The Sipping Container will spotlight local makers like Central City Brewers and Distillers, Stag’s Hollow, JoieFarm Winery, and Ward’s Cider. The bar will also offer a selection of pre-mixed drinks and may have extended summer hours on Friday and Saturday nights.

Summer vibes continue on The Music Box stage, a shipping container transformed into a flip-down platform. Expect to see local emerging artists, seasoned performers, and community festivals during the opening weekend and throughout the season.
