Bumper-to-bumper: Crash at Massey Tunnel wrecks morning commute

Drivers are experiencing a seriously slow commute in parts of Metro Vancouver Wednesday morning after a major crash before the George Massey Tunnel. The collision led to a full-lane closure northbound for hours, and motorists are still not sure when it will reopen.

That’s according to Drive BC, the Ministry of Transportation’s traffic website, which shows the crash on Highway 99 in Delta has led to congestion since after 6 am, and as of 9:30 am, there is still no estimated time of reopening.

The counterflow lane is open, however, so those at the tail end of the crash can still get through. But those who aren’t stuck in that backup are being warned to avoid the stretch entirely.

This is a developing story.
