2022 Vancouver election candidates list now available as nomination period closes

September 9 2022 –

From August 30 to September 9, eligible candidates filed their nomination documents at the Vancouver Election Office to become an official candidate for:

  • Mayor
  • City councillor
  • Park Board commissioner
  • School trustee

The nomination period officially ended at 4pm today.

Vancouver Charter

In accordance with the Vancouver Charter section 45.2, the following activities may happen up until Friday, September 16 at 4pm: 

  • Candidates may withdraw their candidacy 
  • Candidates may withdraw their consent to be endorsed by a political party
  • Political parties may withdraw their endorsement of a candidate
  • A decision by the court must be made if an eligible voter, another nominee, or the Chief Election Officer challenges the nomination of a candidate, and/or the endorsement of a candidate by a political party

Drawing the order or candidates’ names

The Election Office will be drawing the order of candidates’ names on the ballot on:

  • Friday, September 16, 5pm
  • At City Hall

This event will be livestreamed on YouTube. Voters can check who the candidates areand their profiles on Thursday, September 22 and in the voters’ guides.

Voters’ Guide

The Voters’ Guide will have voting information available in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Tagalog, Punjabi, Vietnamese, Spanish, Korean, Farsi, French, and Japanese. The guides will have candidate profiles (in English only) and will be available at community centres and libraries starting on Thursday, September 29. 

Election day October 15

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, eligible Vancouver voters will vote for:

  • 1 mayor
  • 10 councillors
  • 7 Park Board commissioners
  • 9 school trustees
