January 10 2024 –
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) responded to a residential SRO fire at 50 E Cordova Street on January 10, 2024, at 11:09am. Firefighters were met with smoke coming from the rear of the building on the top floor.
Fire was upgraded to a first alarm, working fire assignment with approximately 16 VFRS apparatus on scene.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire which was controlled by the sprinkler system and prevent further fire and heat damage to the building.
One person was transported to hospital due to smoke inhalation. A firefighter was also injured on scene and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The fire remains under investigation at this time.
