If you’re planning a road trip from Vancouver this summer you’ll want to visit a charming small town in B.C. that has the cutest tourist attraction.
The small town is on Vancouver Island and it’s widely known for having adorable goats that roam around the roof of a local market.
Old Country Market is in Coombs, about a two-hour drive from Victoria.
The local market has been around since 1973 and it’s become famous with locals and tourists for the goats that can be seen walking on top of the business munching on the grass.
You can see the goats between May and October every year. In 2024, the cute animals will be back for the May long weekend.
According to the Old Country Market website, you’ll find two goats living on the roof: Minyon and Pip.
Minyon is a 10-year-old goat who has spent several seasons on the roof and is “ready to take charge of any situation.”
“Minyon started working on the roof when he was still just a kid,” the website says. His favourite snacks include maple leaves, apples and carrot tops.
At eight-years-old, Pip sounds like he’s a bit more relaxed with his favourite hobbies being long naps in the sun and scratching his horns on tree branches. Pip also loves maple leaves and banana peels.
Aside from the goats, Old Country Market is also fully stocked with many food items like fresh produce, specialty items and snacks.
There are also nearby shops in the market that have ice cream and other treats if you want something sweet.
So if you’re planning a road trip to Tofino from Victoria or Vancouver this summer, this market is a great stop along the way!
