This enchanting small town in BC was named among Canada’s top places to visit in 2025

This little B.C. ski village nestled in the mountains has a little bit of everything — boundless adventures at the doorstep, a thermal spa oasis set back in the forest, and charming cobblestone streets under the glow of twinkling lights.

It’s an escape into the outdoors just an hour and a half from Vancouver, renowned for its beauty, ski terrain and overall atmosphere. As one of the top-rated resorts in the world, it’s not new to the spotlight, but it was recently ranked among the best places to visit in the country in 2025, so if you’re building out your New Year travel list, take note.

U.S. News crafted a list of the best places to visit in Canada for 2025, weighing factors like affordability for U.S. travellers, entertainment options, hotels and resorts, expert opinions and user votes. Popular destinations like Banff and Quebec City peppered the ranking, and the small town of Whistler came in at 9th place.

The ranking praised the ski town for its long list of adrenaline-pumping activities – think bobsled rides and bungee jumps — as well as its bustling après-ski and shopping scenes.

Although known for its winter intrigue, the town is just as vibrant and full of things to do in the summer months. When the snow melts you can head to the mountains for hikes with spectacular lookouts onto glistening blue lakes, or go out with a kayak or canoe for a sunny afternoon on the water.

If you’re not into the more adventurous pursuits you can opt for a more low-key vacation at Scandinave Spa. Tucked back in the lush greenery of the forest this spot is a retreat in every way possible. You leave your phone behind, along with your thoughts of everyday life, and step into the hush of the outdoor thermal spa which will leave you feeling as relaxed as it gets.

Like many parts of the province, the real show-stopper here is the natural beauty. Around every turn of the winding road that takes you here from Vancouver, you’ll get breathtaking views. Once in town, you’ll be greeted by the snowy peaks, sparkling lakes, and towering trees that are signatures of the West Coast.

Whistler might not be a hidden gem, but the many accolades it’s collected are well deserved. If it’s not on your 2025 bucketlist, it should be now.
