These white-sand beaches in BC were named among the most popular in the world

Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to start planning some trips to the beach.

If you’re unsure where to go, three beaches in B.C. were just named among the most popular in the world, and with dreamy white sand, rolling waves and gorgeous settings, it’s easy to see why.

Online betting site Betway looked at the top beaches around the globe in a recent study.

The company analyzed the popularity of beaches around the world based on a combination of Google searches, Instagram posts, and TikTok views, and used data from the past year to identify the beaches that were most popular with travellers.

The beaches were then ranked on a scale of 1 to 100 to determine the most popular in the world.

On the list were three B.C. beaches that you’ll definitely want to check out this summer:

Long Beach

Long Beach on Tofino was found to be the third most popular beach in the world, according to the study.

Located within Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, the beach is the longest on Vancouver Island, stretching for over 16 kilometres.

Here, you’ll find a pristine shore with white sand and rolling waves perfect for kayakers, swimmers, and those just looking to lay out on the sand. You can also spot gray and humpback whales in the distance.

The beach is also a particularly great surfing spot, with consistent waves and surf schools in the area.

Wreck Beach

Wreck Beach in Vancouver was the 10th most popular beach in the world, according to Betway.

Located on the west end of the University of British Columbia, Wreck Beach is the city’s legendary clothing-optional beach (and one of only two nude beaches in Canada), meaning you can hang out here in your birthday suit, if that’s your thing.

The beach has beautiful nature views and there are often vendors selling snacks and drinks, according to UBC.

Kitsilano Beach

Kitsilano Beach was ranked as the 16th most popular beach in the world, and the third most popular in B.C.

Known as “Kits” Beach, Kitsilano is one of Vancouver’s most popular beaches, offering scenic views of the downtown area, Burrard Inlet, and the North Shore Mountains.

Considered the “Venice Beach” of Vancouver, the beach is surrounded by parkland and restaurants, and offers a “quintessential Vancouver beach experience.”

Other Canadian beaches to make the list of the most popular in the world include Ontario’s Wasaga Beach (which ranked in the eighth spot on the list) and Bruce Peninsula (15), Manitoba’s Grand Beach Provincial Park (18) and P.E.I.’s Cavendish Beach (21).

The most popular beach in the world was found to be Laguna Beach in California, which is known for its calm waters, many coves, and friendly seaside town.
