Look up Canada, because a colourful display of the northern lights is set to happen on Friday night, and those in B.C. and Alberta might be able to get a good view.
Thanks to a solar flare that erupted this week, the aurora borealis are putting on a show that Western Canada should be able to appreciate. The Weather Network says that there might be “bright displays” of the Aurora Borealis on Friday night.
The forecast says that the “geomagnetic storm levels could rise as high as G3 (strong),” which means that you can expect a colourful night ahead.
The northern lights may be visible across Canada in various cities and towns, but Western Canada is expected to get a good chance at seeing them.
TWN said that Thursday night and into Friday morning made for good viewing in Western Canada, but luckily for those who got their beauty sleep, you have another shot.
“The forecast is also predicting a resurgence of aurora activity on Friday. Geomagnetic storm levels are expected to rise again to G2 (moderate) to G3 (strong) starting in the evening (EDT) and continuing at G2 levels overnight into Saturday,” the forcast said.
While eastern Canada should get a good display, TWN noted that “with G2 levels forecast to persist, western Canada could be in for two great displays in a row!”
So keep your eyes up, head away from light pollution if you can, and enjoy the show!
