Christmas is right around the corner, and while it’s feeling festive pretty much everywhere right now, some cities have a little extra cheer compared to others. This one U.S. city is close to Vancouver and was just ranked as one of the top five cities for Christmas this year.
If you’re in Vancouver and want some last-minute cheer then it’s worth making the three-hour road trip across the border to Seattle.
WalletHub created the ranking based on factors like holiday traditions, shipping, and costs, to figure out where Christmas 2024 is best spent. Atlanta took the top spot for Christmas-friendly cities in the U.S., but Seatlle was in third place.
The city is home to lots of festive celebrations and it goes all-out for Christmassy decor.
The ranking said that the people really get into the giving spirit too, with the city having ” the fifth-most online donations per capita, along with an extremely large number of food banks.”
It also gets decked out for the festive season, with light displays, Christmas trees, and holiday decor along the streets.
The European-style Seattle Christmas Market is also here, and wandering around you’ll feel like you’ve been transported onto the streets of Germany. There’s food and drinks, local vendors, and lots of goodies to pick up.
Seattle Center Winterfest is also running until December 31, with seasonal decorations, a winter village, and live entertainment.
If you’re visiting then make sure to stick around for New Year’s, to see the the sky light up with fireworks launched at the Seattle Center and the Space Needle light up.
This is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway from Vancouver, with a little extra holiday magic.
