Jack Black Shouted Out The Grouse Grind At The Golden Globes & Canadians Are Loving It

Jack Black gave a shout-out to one of Vancouver’s most popular hiking trails during the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

The Jumanji actor was talking to Etalk’s Tyrone Edwards when he randomly brought up the Grouse Grind and Canadians are loving that the actor mentioned the famous B.C. trail at the awards show.

In a clip shared on Etalk’s TikTok account, Edwards is talking to Black when the actor says “I like Canada.”

Before Edwards could say much Black says, “You ever been to Vancouver? You ever hike up that mountain, the Grouse Grind?”

“You’ve done the Grouse Grind?” Edwards asks in the video.

“Yeah you get to the top and you drink that smoothie,” Black continues.

That was it for the interaction so it’s unclear when exactly the Super Mario Bros. star hiked the Grouse Grind.

Nevertheless Canadians are clearly loving Black’s comments and are sharing their reactions and own stories from their hikes on the trail in a Reddit thread on r/vancouver.

“He went into that interview knowing he was gonna talk about the grind! What a legend,” one person wrote.

“Guy is a gem,” another Redditor expressed.

Some people questioned what smoothie the actor was talking about on the red carpet while others suggested alternative rewards to enjoy at the top.

“Supposed to have the poutine and a beer at the top,” one comment reads.

A few people in the thread shared that they did in fact see Black on Grouse Mountain.

“My buddy saw him on the grouse grind,” one comment says.

“Can confirm. I met him at the top in 2012,” one person wrote.

The Grouse Grind is a 2.5-kilometre trail up the face of Grouse Mountain and is often referred to as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster,” as described on the Grouse Mountain website.

Black didn’t say which smoothie he was referring to in the clip but The Peak Juice Bar located at the top of the trail does offer a couple of protein smoothies.

We do agree with people on Reddit though, a beer and poutine seem like the better reward after the intense hike!
