BC Gulf Islands — Your guide to exploring on BC Ferries this summer

The Gulf Islands of BC draw in visitors from far and wide, thanks to the clear waters of the Salish Sea, the charming communities, and the natural beauty spread throughout. BC Ferries connects many of the islands, making for an especially beautiful journey to the little havens of peace.

Some of the gulf islands make for quick trips from the city, perfect for spending a day wandering around, while others require a longer expedition — but the pay-off is usually worth it. Although popular among tourists and BC locals alike, the slow-paced lifestyle of the islands typically stays true even at the height of the season.

There are actually an incredible amount of islands speckling the Strait of Georgia, sandwiched in between Vancouver Island and the mainland, but there are some stand-outs that should be on any visitor’s — or local’s — bucket list. Each has its own intrigue, from rolling farmlands to sandy beaches.

If you’re really up for an adventure you can do an island hopping trip, bouncing around the beauty of the area on the ferries connecting them.
