Vancouver is known as Hollywood North thanks to the many productions using it as a backdrop, often playing the role of a U.S. spot. Locals can easily recognize the West Coast city on their screens though, and some of their favourite restaurants.
The city’s food scene has also been showcased time and time again in some of the most popular movies and TV series, from cozy cafes to hot-spot restaurants. Netflix faves like Always Be My Maybe and Firefly Lane have brought the likes of Katherine Heigl and Ali Wong to Vancouver and to the local foodie spots.
If you want to try out some of the spots visited by big celebs, or just see what made the on-screen cut, then look no further. Netflix In Your Neighbourhood rounded up a list of six Vancouver restaurants that have been featured in some of their most popular shows and movies.
Brix & Mortar
Address: 1137 Hamilton St. Vancouver, BC V6B 2X6
Who can forget the nostalgia-inducing, and downright adorable franchise that is To All the Boys ? Filmed all across the city you can recognize a few spots while watching Lara Jean’s and Peter Kavinsky’s love story play out.
Brix & Mortar is one of those places, fronting as Cardano’s restaurant in the movie — a fancy spot that Peter takes Lara Jean to for a romantic evening.
Glowbal
Address: 590 W Georgia St. Vancouver, BC V6E 1A3
Al Wong and Randall Park’s endearing rom-com, Always Be My Maybe, is filmed on the streets of Vancouver partially, and this popular restaurant made it into the film. It actually poses as Sasha’s (played by Ali Wong) own restaurant in the movie. With its cool decor and fancy interior, this spot was the perfect place for it.
New Town Bakery
Address: 148 E Pender St. Vancouver, BC V6A 1T3
This is another Always Be My Maybe spot, and is where the two main characters, Sasha and Marcus really start to hit it off (again). The cute bonding scene is filmed at New Town Bakery, as they eat dim sum and reconnect.
Marriott Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver
Address: 645 Howe St. Vancouver, BC V6C 2Y9
This tearjerker series Firefly Lane was filmed around Vancouver, including at this hotel restaurant. The main characters Tully Hart (played by Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (played by Sarah Chalke) meet for a meal here, and there’s also a scene outside the hotel.
The Butcher & Bullock
Address: 911 W Pender St. Vancouver, BC V6C 3B2
The intense drama, Keep Breathing, is about a woman trying to survive the wilderness after a plane crash, but this pub makes it into the series. The local pub serves up food and drinks and is the perfect casual place to grab a bite to eat.
The Junction
Address: 1138 Davie St. Vancouver, BC V6E 1N1
Firefly Lane was also filmed at this popular bar in Davie Village, the city’s bustling LGBTQ+ neighbourhood. This popular spot is a go-to for a fun night, with trivia, drag shows, and themed parties.
