6 fun and festive activities around Vancouver that you need to do before they’re over

It seems like we’ve been hearing Christmas music in the aisles forever at this point, but there’s only a week left to soak up the Christmas vibes and all of the activities that come along with this time of year.

Vancouver has a lot going on during the festive season, with cozy Christmas markets, post-card-worthy villages nearby, and gardens decked out with twinkly lights.

Right now is the prime time to soak up that last little bit of holiday cheer, and visit some of the best holiday attractions while they’re still running.

If you’re not quite in the holiday spirit yet, here’s your checklist of things to do this week to make it happen.

Vancouver Christmas Market

Nothing says Christmas in the city like wandering around this European-style market that is set up every year on the waterfront.

There are lots of vendors, sweet treats, live music, and of course, a big Christmas tree to set the vibe. Grab a cup of mulled wine and shop the local goodies here.

Merry & Bright at Martini Town

This little town is actually a production set used for movies and shows, so it’s quite literally a Hallmark-worthy town. Every year it opens up to the public around the holidays and lights up with holiday decorations.

Roam around the pretend you’re in New York at Christmas with the lane of Brownstones, or twirl around the gently falling (fake) snow here. It’s a rom-com come to life.

District 1881

This twinkly little village is actually in Downtown Chilliwack, but the neighbourhood is set apart from the rest of the city during the holidays.

It’s dripping with Christmas vibes, with a stunning tree, cozy shops, and cobblestone streets that will make you feel like you’re somewhere in Europe. It’s about an hour and a half drive from Vancouver, so a fun way to get out of the city.

Trestle Bridge

This is a quick and free activity that will get you outside and add a little holiday flair to your weekend without being over the top.

The bridge in Cypress Pop-Up Village winds through the forest and if you go at night it’s glowing with string lights that make it feel magical.

VanDusen Festival of Light

One million twinkling lights illuminate this majestic garden in the city until January 5. Going here is a bucketlist Vancouver holiday experience, with the magical light displays and 15 acres of garden to venture through.

It makes for a magical night and you can also enjoy some treats thanks to the food vendors here. Tickets are sold online, where you can pick an entry time. Tickets are $31.36 for adults and $12.23 for children.

White Rock Pier

White Rock is home to the longest pier in Canada, and until January 7 the waterfront puts on The Bright Walk. Walking alongside the ocean you’ll see beautiful light displays here, and you can take the long walk out onto the pier before to catch the sunset and make for an even more dreamy evening.

Enjoy the season while it lasts Vancouver!
