Imagine waking up to discover that you’re now a multimillionaire. That just became a happy reality for one very lucky lottery player.
The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Saturday, December 7, and the Gold Ball prize was worth $42 million. Although no one won the jackpot, someone did match the number 43472472-01 to win the White Ball prize. According to PlayNow, someone in Ontario will be taking home the guaranteed $1 million prize.
Another major prize up for grabs was the Lotto 6/49 Classic prize. The winning numbers were 09, 22, 33, 41, 42, 45, and bonus 12, and after they matched all six winning numbers, one lucky Canadian is now $5 million richer. The ticket was sold in Quebec.
Other winners during Saturday’s draw include a lottery winner from Western Canada and Ontario. After matching five of the six winning numbers and the bonus number, the winners will split the second prize. Each will receive $129,666.70.
The third prize will be split between 92 lottery players, each receiving a $1,183.70 prize.
In BC, no one won the $500,000 Classic Draw Extra Prize; in Ontario, no one won the $1 million Encore prize.
The last time anyone won the Lotto 6/49 top prize was during the October 9 draw. The $32 million prize was split between six strangers from Quebec who met for the first time at the lottery headquarters to claim their prize. You can read their story here.
The next Lotto 6/49 draw is set for Wednesday, December 11. There are now only 13 balls left, and the Gold Ball prize is worth $44 million.
