The official start of winter is just around the corner, and those already looking forward to longer days now have something to hold onto during the chilly months.
According to Time and Date AS, sunsets in Vancouver will begin later starting on Saturday, December 14.
Though the change in sunset start time is incremental at first, it will give Vancouvrites hope that warmer weather and brighter days are on the way.

Sunset for Vancouver is slated to begin on Friday, December 13 at 4:13 pm. Then, on Saturday, December 14, the start time is delayed by one minute to 4:14 pm.
The first official day of winter lands on Saturday, December 21 and sunset is set to begin at 4:16 pm.
Though it may seem quite small, these extra minutes will soon add up to a sunset time of 9:22 pm on Sunday, June 22.
Most of Canada is still under Daylights Saving Time, which kicked in on Sunday, November 3.

Daylight Saving Time affects six time zones across the country: Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, and Atlantic. Newfoundland DST is also 30 minutes behind Atlantic time.
But at least with the winter solstice just around the corner, locals can look forward to longer days ahead.
