Grey Cup organizers have to be pleased after a successful week in Vancouver.
The Grey Cup Festival, which featured parties, concerts, a drone show, and even a zipline, was bustling. The event culminated on Sunday with the 111th Grey Cup game, which saw the Toronto Argonauts deliver a massive upset win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The game was close until the fourth quarter, when the Argos began to pull away, winning 41-24. Nick Arbuckle, who was filling in for Toronto’s injured starting quarterback, was named the game’s MVP. The 31-year-old QB had been contemplating quitting football earlier this year.
The game wasn’t a sellout, but it wasn’t far off either, with an announced attendance of 52,349 at BC Place. That’s a better turnout than the last time BC Place hosted the Grey Cup in 2014. They drew 52,056 fans that year.
The stadium’s maximum capacity is 54,500.
Given that ticket prices weren’t cheap, with the minimum price to get in set at over $100, that’s a wonderful turnout.
Not quite a sellout but there’s over 50,000 at BC Place for the #GreyCup.

The empty seats were mainly confined to the upper bowl, as the lower bowl looked packed.
Fans were there to see the Argos and Bombers, as well as the Jonas Brothers, who put on an impressive halftime show.
