Trade clothes for cash at new North Vancouver vintage shop

You might be able to make a little cash if you have some clothes gathering dust in your closet when a new vintage store in Metro Vancouver operating as a buy-sell-trade storefront opens

Shawn Avantini, formerly of Main Street’s F as in Frank Vintage Clothing is one of the co-founders of a new shop opening in North Vancouver called Arrival Vintage.

While Avantini admits that North Vancouver is home to a creative and trendy community, he said he’s found that there just isn’t a dedicated store that combines fashion, affordability and sustainability. So that’s why Arrival Vintage was born.

“We wanted to bring the culture of sustainable fashion and thrifting to our home on the North Shore and create a foundational experience for kids, parents and families for years to come,” says Avantini. “The sustainable clothing industry has been booming in BC in recent years and Arrival Vintage will provide young families and the fashion community alike with a place to shop sustainably and make the most of their hard-earned dollars.”

Arrival Vintage aims to give new life to vintage clothing and offer a range of high-quality pieces, “Whether it’s vintage sportswear/jerseys, workwear, femme, or streetwear— it is its goal to make sure that anyone in North Van can find a piece to resonate with,” Avantini said.

Apart from Arrival being filled with items that have been hand picked, laundered, de-pilled and steamed, Avantini said people can also expect to be able to shop affordably.

“Affordability is a core value. There will be items starting as low as $25 with the majority being at a median price of $35-40,” he said. “Arrival will always aim to have affordable racks to be welcoming the youth and your casual shoppers; however for those who desire higher end items,  it will also have a dedicated curation of premium and rare vintage items which will range in the hundreds.”

As for sizing, Avantini said the shop aims to be size-inclusive, ranging from XS-XXXL, however, added “Sourcing second hand will at times make it difficult to equally represent all the sizes, and majority of the items will fall to large or XL.”

Arrival Vintage

If you’re cleaning out your closet and think that Arrival Vintage would be interested in your streetwear, vintage, and designer items, Avantini said you might be able to trade pieces in for money, store credit, or can directly exchange with items in store.

“It never hurts to stop on by and see if the boxes in the attic are worth a dime of two!” he added.

You can shop at Arrival Vintage in-store when it opens on Friday, November 29, in the burgeoning mid-Lonsdale District of North Vancouver at 111 E 12th Street. You can also shop online through social media and soon eBay.
