It appears Jordan Romano’s time with the Toronto Blue Jays has come to an end.
The 31-year-old relief pitcher from Markham, Ontario, has been non-tendered by the team, as first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. It means Romano will become a free agent, likely ending his six-year run with the Blue Jays.

Romano recorded 36 saves in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023 and was named an MLB All-Star both years. But he appeared in just 15 games last season due to injury and underwent season-ending elbow surgery in July. Consequently, Romano posted a 6.59 ERA with eight saves through 13.2 innings in 2024.
Romano was scheduled to make $6.5 million next season.
In other Blue Jays news, the team is reportedly going to non-tender relief pitcher Dillon Tate, per Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith. Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi, meanwhile, is reporting that the Blue Jays have agreed to a contract and will avoid arbitration with reliever Erik Swanson.
