Taylor Swift Vancouver tickets now cost the same as six months rent

Taylor Swift’s Vancouver concert dates are just around the corner, but those who want to see the superstar in person may need to dig deeper into their wallets.

The legendary performer is bringing her Eras Tour to BC Place for three dates — December 6, 7, and 8 — and seats are in extremely high demand.

As the city becomes completely overrun with all things Tay Tay and prepares for the arrival of tens of thousands of members of her cult following, the prices for places to stay and tickets to the concerts themselves have only been getting higher as the excitement grows.

Now, with just a few weeks to go before the first of the Eras Tour shows, resale tickets are at astronomical highs, though you can be confident some devoted fans will still pay the price tag for the experience.

Tickets in any section at BC Place were painfully difficult to obtain in the first place, and they are now selling fast on resale sites at an astounding markup.

As of press time, the least expensive solo seat available via StubHub is $2,734 in Section 435 in Row YY (aka the nosebleeds) on Friday, December 6.

If you’re looking to go with a friend and have a “clear view” of Taylor Swift onstage from the floor, a pair of tickets in Section FLR-B8 will run you $16,788 each.

That is the equivalent of over half a year’s rent for a one-bedroom in Vancouver for each seat, according to the latest Zumper statistics.

Zumper says that in October, Vancouver “continued to rank as the most expensive city in Canada, though one-bedroom rent fell 1.9% to $2,600, while two-bedrooms dropped 3.5% to $3,600.”

Some fans are going to some pretty extreme measures to get a ticket to see Taylor Swift in Vancouver. Others have paid a “historic” amount to get their seats.
