Swifties dish how much they paid for Vancouver Eras Tour tickets

Taylor Swift is in Vancouver this weekend for the final three shows of her Eras Tour. and After months of outrage around ticket prices, some fans heading to the Friday show shared what they paid to see her live.

The Grammy award-winning singer only stopped in two Canadian cities on her tour. The Vancouver shows drew many out-of-town guests from Alberta, Ontario, Washington State, Oregon, and more.

Swifties had to brave intense Ticketmaster queues or shell out for resale seats. Plus, they had to arrange transportation and accommodation in one of Canada’s priciest cities — where hotels and Airbnbs increased prices in response to the popular event.

“Up until not even 24 hours ago I didn’t even have tickets,” one fan told Daily Hive. “I have been playing the long game and battling the queues every time.”

She came to the show in a homemade shirt that said “Ticketmaster is the Devil” along with horns. The front of the shirt said she was 1,989 in the queue — a reference to one of Swift’s albums.

She was finally able to score floor seats for $700 each from Ticketmaster right before the show.

“I’m happy. But bitter,” she said.

Her friend had to pay $1,900 for her floor seat on a resale site.

Another group of fans cam in from Oregon and Kansas City. They booked flights and accommodation about a year ago once they secured the tickets, but still paid $1,200 for their room the night of the show.

“And it’s not that great of a hotel,” one of the women said.

Two fans from Toronto paid $1,000 per night for a hotel downtown — but said it’s “worth it.” Two other women from Seattle were able to score face value tickets, but paid $900 per night for their hotel in Burnaby.

Another pair of fans saved some money by repurposing outfits from Swifites who went to see Swift earlier in her tour — Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants style. They also brought a pair of miniature binoculars to see Swift from their upper bowl seats.

Another fan who spoke to Daily Hive paid $4,000 per ticket to see Taylor Swift. The first time trying to buy tickets she got scammed and lost money. After that, she signed up for every charity auction she could find. She eventually secured her ticket from the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

“I’m seven months pregnant but I’ve got the energy of a teenager,” she said. “I’m super stoked.”

Stubhub still had tickets available for Saturday night’s show as of two hours before the concert. The cheapest were asking for about $800 each.
