After her lottery win Katelin Krysko of Porcupine, Ontario, said she took some time to think about what she wanted to do with her prize.
Krysko, who works as a personal support worker, was on her way to a music festival with her daughter when they made a quick stop at a gas station.
She decided to check her Ontario 49 tickets and won some Free Plays. She also decided to play Encore, a bonus game that offers 22 additional ways to win.
A few days later, she learned that she matched the last six of seven Encore numbers to win $100,000.
“I checked my ticket using the OLG app. When I saw the prize amount, I shouted, ‘Oh my gosh!’” said Krysko in a news release. She went to a store to check her ticket, just to be sure, and when her prize was confirmed, she decided to call her mom.
“The tears started to flow, we shared a hug. I’ve had some rough times recently, and winning came with a sense of relief,” she shared.
The Ontario woman says that when she first learned of her win, she started “imagining all the things” she could do with the money but decided to take it slow and not make any quick decisions.
“I want to make sure I use my winnings wisely,” she said, adding that she will invest her prize in her kids’ education.
Moreover, she wants to help her parents and take a trip to Jamaica.
Krysko’s winning ticket was purchased at Esso on Highway 11 in Matheson.
