Last month, we reported on a five-block stretch in Vancouver that got some serious love at the 2024 Michelin Awards. But there is another area in the city that we’ve got our eyes on, and this time it’s just one block.
On Alberni, between Bute and Thurlow Street, is a one-block area that will soon be home to some of Vancouver’s most highly anticipated restaurants.
For starters, the famous Korean bakery Paris Baguette will be opening its first-ever Vancouver location at 1150 Alberni Street.
This brand has been taking Canada by storm, opening its first locations in Toronto in 2022 and then another in Calgary in 2023. It sells everything from beautifully decorated cakes to freshly baked bread, pastries, gourmet sandwiches, and more.
Located just above Paris Baguette at 1132 Alberni Street is another Vancouver first: Din Tai Fung.
The restaurant is famously known for its Xiao Long Bao, Spicy Wontons, Cucumber Salad, and its signature spicy sauce.
Founded in 1972, Din Tai Fung now has more than 170 locations in 14 countries around the globe. Its Vancouver store has been a highly anticipated opening, but you’ll still have to wait a bit longer since the restaurant pushed back its opening date to 2025.
The third food spot is a bit more mysterious, which makes it that much more exciting.
Signs for Comal by Chef Rodrigo De Quevedo have popped up right next door to Paris Baguette.
The restaurant currently has no online presence, but signs in the window tease that “something new is cooking with spice and elegance.” Additionally, the signs say it will represent “a new era of Mexican dining.” As always, be sure to check back here for all of the details once they’re announced.
Now, all we have left to do is wait for all three of these exciting restaurants to open.
Which one of these restaurants on Alberni Street will you be checking out first? Let us know in the comments.
