‘Tis the season for making magical memories, spending time with loved ones, and supporting small business owners in your community.
To celebrate the holidays and the joy that they represent, Mastercard is transforming the charming downtown Fort Langley into a family-friendly holiday shopping adventure, encouraging residents to support small businesses and shop local this season.
Here’s what to expect from this fun (and limited-time!) shopping experience.
Enter the storybook world of Cranberry and Crumm
The holiday season means magic for all ages, and this experience is no different.
From November 30 to December 15, Mastercard is bringing a yuletide shopping adventure to Fort Langley inspired by an original storybook in support of small business. The illustrated book features local businesses and tells the tale of Cranberry, a sparkle sprite on a mission to bring joy delivery man, Mr. Crumm.
Ready to embark on this magical adventure? Families will receive a copy of the storybook upon entering downtown Fort Langley, or at any of the participating businesses. From there, they can shop as they uncover parts of the story, brought to life by enchanting storefront displays and in-store art installations.
Make a list and check it twice
And while you’re there, why not cross those last few items off your holiday shopping list? Perhaps a specially picked book from Wendel’s Bookstore & Cafe, a handmade item from Cranberries Naturally, or a beautiful garden-inspired bouquet from Floralista Flower Shop for your holiday tablescape? These are just some of the treasures awaiting you along Fort Langley’s historic streets.
Plus, with each purchase with a Mastercard at participating businesses, visitors will receive a unique puzzle piece featuring a town landmark. Those who collect all eight pieces will uncover a beautiful Fort Langley townscape.
To further spotlight Fort Langley’s small businesses, local entrepreneur Jillian Harris has joined Mastercard as an ambassador and wrote a heartfelt foreword for the storybook of Cranberry and Crumm.
“As an entrepreneur, I understand the dedication, love, and hard work it takes to build a successful business,” said Harris. “I’ve always believed in the power of shopping local, and I’m excited to partner with Mastercard this holiday season to bring attention to the small businesses that form the heart and soul of communities like Fort Langley.”
Shop local wherever you are
Mastercard recognizes that small business success is something that’s shared, and when small businesses win, everyone wins. That’s why, by telling a magical story about the joy small businesses bring to their communities, Mastercard is encouraging Canadians to shop local this holiday season and year-round.
“When we shop local, we’re not just buying a product or service, we’re supporting the dreams and ambitions of small business owners,” said Nishant Raina, Vice President, Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises, Mastercard, Canada. “Mastercard is proud to provide small businesses with the support they need to succeed because we understand that when small business wins, everyone wins.”
This is true wherever you are in Canada, so if you can’t make it to Fort Langley this winter, you can still help boost your local economy and strengthen community spirit by shopping at local businesses in your area.
