With so many great restaurants in and around Vancouver, it can be tricky to choose a new place instead of going to a reliable favourite.
And when it comes to new restaurants, we’re spoiled with a plethora of options.
However, adding something fresh into your dining rotation sometimes unlocks a new neighbourhood favourite or celebratory tradition.
Here are some new restaurants in and around Vancouver that you can check out now.
Elem is a new Main Street spot brought to us by Chef Vish Mayekar, formerly La Tana, Pepino’s, and Elio Volpe, and Hassib Sarwari and Winnie Sun of the celebrated modern Afghan restaurant Zarak.
Menu highlights include Cone Cabbage with Taleggio fondue, beef Nduja, and Meyer lemon crumb, along with BC Dungeness Crab Toast on milk bread with lemongrass-ginger sauce.
Additionally, the spot has sectioned its drink program by elements. Take the Chef’s Negroni, a combo of Dark Chocolate Gin, Spent Mulberry Campari, Stoney Paradise Tomato Vine Vermouth, and Applewood + Cedar Smoke, which aims to connect to earth and comfort.

Odd Burger is not a one-off spot. This is the newest location from the chain, which now operates nearly 20 across Canada, with more to come.
The burgers here are reminiscent of some other big-name chain core menu items, like the Famous Burger, a play on a Big Mac. This sky-high creation arrives with two housemade smash patties made from wheat and soy protein, flax seeds, onions, nutritional yeast and a special seasoning blend.
Toppings include the house-made secret, “Famous Sauce,” onions, lettuce, dairy-free American-style cheddar cheese, pickles, and a toasted triple sesame bun.

Oretachi is best known for its popular Katsu Curry rice dishes and Curry Ramen options.

Located at 213 Carall Street, the spot is operating inside Twisted Fork Bistro. But don’t worry — Twisted Fork isn’t going anywhere and is still serving up its delicious brunch.
On Instagram, the spot boasts a menu that it refers to as trashy and classy (think hotdogs and caviar, for example). It also serves 20 items under $20.
Emerald Dragon is a new ghost kitchen that has opened in Vancouver, claiming to be the first spot for Irish-style Chinese food in the city.
It’s serving up spice bags which include deep-fried salt and chili fries, salt and chili chicken, red and green peppers, sliced chili peppers, fried onions, and a variety of spices. It also serves up something called a Munch Box, which consists of salt and chili chips, your choice of salt and chili chicken balls or shredded chicken, egg fried rice, spring rolls, and a large curry sauce served in what looks like a giant pizza box perfect for a multi-person feast.

Founded by Dom and Frank Morra (who also own Via Tevere Pizzeria, Il Saltimbocca, and Straight Outta Brooklyn Pizza, which is located next door), Dante Italian Sandwich is a new 16-seat sandwich joint serving up a line of no-nonsense tasty sandwiches stacked with classic Italian meats, cheeses, and veggies.
Dante uses a special type of bread for its sandwiches called schiacciata, which is made in-house and is like a thinner and crispier focaccia-style bread.

On its menu, Élysées serves sweet and savoury pastries alongside loaves of bread and lunch sandwiches. Think caramelized onion and gruyere danishes, pain au chocolate, and sandwiches like its PLT (which includes slow-roasted pork, lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes, and caper mayo on a torta bun).

Called Miion Cafe, this spot says it is inspired by “the concept of ‘ion.”
“Just as ions form when an element gains or loses an electron, Miion suggests a transformative journey, akin to a ‘molecular’ version of self-renewal.”
On the menu, you can find your standard coffee offerings, which range from dripped coffee to lattes and cold brew. The spot also offers a daily menu of pour-over options.

Captain Thai Noodle House is a new Burnaby Thai restaurant that specializes in boat noodles and claims to be one of very few in Metro Vancouver that offers this delicacy.
