The Vancouver Canucks have unveiled a new logo for Lunar New Year and it’s stunning.
Artist Nicole Jang created a variation of the team’s skate logo with a snake’s head coming out of the top of the skate. The colour palette has also been switched to red and gold. The final result is incredible and is one of the team’s best specialty logos.

We are entering the Year of the Snake, which is why the animal is prominently featured.
The design isn’t only incredibly visually appealing, but it also contains some finer details that pay homage to the upcoming holiday.
As the team explained on social media, there are many intersecting lines and shapes, which represent harmony and unity. The snake’s head also contains the Chinese shou character, representing good fortune and longevity. Last but not least, there is a lucky lozenge, which is a symbol of victory.
A year for unity, harmony, and good fortune. 🐍

“It’s about inviting everyone to engage with the culture and celebrate our diverse histories,” said Jang.
The Canucks have released a lot of merchandise with the logo, which is now available on the Vanbase website, including the shirt below, which costs $38. Other items for sale include a pin for $12, a hat for $45, and a hoodie for $120.
The team is celebrating Lunar New Year on January 21 when the Buffalo Sabres come to town. It’s one of many specialty theme nights on the Canucks calendar for the second half of the season. The actual Lunar New Year date lands on January 29.
The Canucks have released a special Lunar New Year logo for each of the last few years. Some of the past designs can be seen below and they included a dragon, rabbit, and other zodiac animals.
