For the past 10 years, Xiao Dong of Toronto has been playing the lottery, and she’s finally celebrating a huge win.
Dong usually enjoys playing Instant Crossword Extreme, because she enjoys solving puzzles.
It was that game that led her to her $350,000 win.
In a release, she shared that she was playing her ticket and noticed that she had uncovered “many words.”
“I used the OLG app to check my ticket, and when I saw the prize amount on the screen, I was in disbelief.”
She took her ticket to the store to have it validated, which confirmed she had won the jackpot.
“I was so excited, I couldn’t sleep for two nights!” she added.
Dong says she will use the money to pay down her mortgage.
She isn’t the only Canadian to put their lottery winnings towards home costs.
Winner Michel Plante, a resident of Bainsville, Ontario, who recently took home $100,000 playing Lotto 6/49, said his prize would help him become mortgage-free and he’d be able to put some money towards taking a vacation.
Jeffery McInnes won over $700,000 after playing the lottery for nearly 30 years. He shared that he would be using his winnings to pay off his mortgage and finish some home renovations.
Dong’s winning ticket was purchased at Lucky Discount Variety on Bloor Street West in Toronto.
