It’s been a tough start to 2025 for the restaurant industry, with many spots announcing that they have or will be closing. Now, a much-loved tea room known best for its matcha creations and other tea-based drinks has announced that it will be closing its only Vancouver location.
Paragon Tea Room announced on Instagram that it will be closing its Cambie Village location, with plans to relocate in Vancouver. The tea room cited the reason for the closure is because the landlord is preparing to make way for a new development.
“While we understand the nature of change, it’s hard to say goodbye to this space that has been home to so many great moments shared over tea,” said Paragon.
Paragon is a locally founded business that specializes in stone-milled Japanese teas and uses teaspresso machines, but they also have a limited menu of high-quality bubble tea drinks. Their offerings are plant-based, usually using oat milk, and are available only in a few flavours in order to keep quality high.
However, Paragon did have some reassuring words for its fans.
“Please don’t panic, we’re NOT closing forever, just until we can secure a new space in Vancouver (working day & night on it),” said the tea room. “We are close to securing an intermediary space in the meantime and will make the announcement as soon as that’s settled so our Vancouver tea fans wouldn’t be out of tea for toooo long!”
Plus, Paragon will continue to operate its locations in YVR Airport and its new location at 4328 No. 3 Road, Richmond, which opened in September 2024.
“We’re so grateful for the love and support you’ve shown us here, and we’re committed to making the most of the time we have left in this space. Over the next few weeks we hope you get a chance to stop by and enjoy your final few sips with us here,” concluded Paragon.
While Paragon did not share an exact closing date, it did say that it would have to close by the end of February.
