“Make it stop”: Vancouver landmarks stump TikTok master Geoguessr

Vancouver may be ranked as one of the most desirable cities in the world, but one viral TikTok star and YouTuber would be fine not seeing it for a while.

Trevor Rainbolt, a self-described professional Google Maps player, recently posted videos of himself playing the online geography game GeoGuessr.

The game challenges users to try and guess where they are in the world through Google Street View as quickly as they can to rack up points.

However, some recent streams proved that Vancouver’s landmarks can still stump the master GeoGuessr.

On January 9, Rainbolt found himself challenged to a map titled “Colors of the Rainbow,” in which he had only one minute per round to make his guess.

In a YouTube video titled “MAKE IT STOP,” he is dropped off at a Mount Pleasant intersection with a confusing street name.

“No. No no no no no no,” said Rainbolt as he scans the Google Earth view in front of him. “Ontario Street? Why does it say Ontario Street.”

The GeoGuessr player hesitates between Vancouver and Toronto but chooses the latter because it says Ontario twice. “You have to,” he tells himself.

When the screen reveals that the drop was indeed in Vancouver, Rainbolt puts his face in his head with a smile.

Just a few days later, on January 13, Rainbolt finds himself back in Vancouver inside an iconic waterfront building.

“No bro, not like this,” he said as he sees the interior of the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Though he initially thought that it could be Utah, the wooden interior made him consider Oslo, Norway.

When he sees that it is Vancouver, he laughs in horror. “Of all the things it could have been.”

And the fun/horror doesn’t stop there for the geography wizard. In a new video posted on January 15, Rainbolt is transported back to Vancouver for another headscratcher.

Regular visitors to the Museum of Vancouver will recognize the layout of the feature exhibitions. But Rainbolt, perhaps feeling a little too assured, selects the United Kingdom.

He sits in stunned silence before explaining, “I instantly sent that out of pure confidence.

“In the three to four years that I’ve played the game, I’ve never had a problem with Vancouver… Do I need to memorize every building inside Vancouver now?”

Like Rainbolt, his fans seem to be taking the Vancouver landmark stumpers in stride.

“I reckon this is one funniest things I’ve seen on internet. The Vancouver storyline is perfect,” said one commenter.

“It has been 0 days since a Vancouver incident,” added another.
