Magical Reindeer Buses return to Vancouver roads for the holidays

Vancouver always feels more festive when the Reindeer Buses are cruising around town, and now they’re making a holiday return.

TransLink is releasing nine of its Reindeer Buses into the wild to collect and deliver toys to families in need.

Each bus is named after a different reindeer guiding Santa’s sleigh, and Santa’s elves have decorated each bus for the holiday season, so make sure to keep an eye out for them.

“Our Reindeer Buses and Santa Train are a beloved holiday tradition,” said TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn. “We’re proud to support local charities, and I encourage everyone to donate and take part in spreading joy and making the season brighter for those in need.”

The 39th annual Toys for Tots program collects cash donations and toys for staff at TransLink companies and delivers them to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.

Over the past decades, the program has collected nearly 100,000 toys and over $56,000 for the charity.

“Toys for Tots has helped thousands of families create special holiday memories for nearly 40 years,” said Chris Bayliss, executive director for the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, in a statement. “Every donation matters, and we’re thrilled to work with TransLink to deliver these gifts to families in need.”

The West Coast Express Santa Train is also making a highly anticipated return this year on Saturday, December 14, to help spread the holiday cheer.

Families can enjoy the train for free by purchasing a Compass DayPass in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy or cash donation.
