What would you do if you won the lottery? Investing and travelling are usually high priorities for most winners, but for one Canadian man, it will be business as usual.
Barry Anstett, 56, lives in Owen Sound, Ontario, and has been playing the lottery for the past couple of years. Some of his favourite games are Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49. He often uses the OLG’s Quick Pick feature to select his numbers.
Over the summer, Anstett decided to try his luck on the Triple Millions game, which was only available for a limited time, and it was a decision that would pay off.
“I was at the store when I scanned my ticket and discovered my win,” Anstett recalled. “I was certainly surprised and a little anxious, but very excited as well.”
The Triple Millions Main Draw took place on August 29, 2024, and he won a top prize worth $1 million.
While at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall, he said, “I shared the news with my family, and while they didn’t believe me at first, they were thrilled for me.”
When asked what he plans to do now that he’s $1 million richer, the level-headed winner said, “I plan to let this win sink in a bit before making any decisions about what comes next. For now, I’ll carry on as usual.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Canadian Tire Gas+ on Balsam Street in Collingwood.
