Just steps away from Royal Oak Station is Ki Cafe, one of the only manga cafes in Metro Vancouver. Unfortunately, the cafe recently took to Instagram to announce that is indefinitely closing its doors.
“While this decision comes as a result of the economic challenges we are facing, this closure presents an opportunity for us to take a step back, reassess our approach, and reinvent the Ki Cafe experience you know and love,” wrote the cafe.
For those unfamiliar, Ki Cafe is a Japanese-inspired cafe that’s home to a giant wall filled with manga for people to enjoy during their visit. It also serves savoury and dessert waffles, homestyle meals like omurice, and bubble tea.
Despite the closure announcement, the cafe teased that they would be holding some “special events” during the closure to “keep the Ki Cafe magic alive.”
“These events will be a chance for us to stay connected. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates on these joyful occasions,” said the cafe.
“Although our physical doors may be temporarily closed, we want you to know that we will keep you informed every step of the way. We look forward to reopening and welcoming you back to our space very soon. Until then, let’s stay connected and keep the spirit alive together!” concluded the cafe.
Ki Cafe will be closed starting December 9, 2024, and will share any updates on reopening on its social media.
