Get a slice of this: Vancouver just got a brand-new pizza joint serving whole pies for under $10, alongside sandwiches and breakfast plates.
The new pizza joint, 911 Pizza, recently opened in the city. Dished reached out to owner Morteza Ebrahimi to learn more about this interesting concept.
“My goal was to create a service that is fast, high-quality, and priced under 10 dollars,” shared Ebrahimi. “Then, an experience during an emergency inspired me. I needed urgent help, and seeing how quickly the police, ambulance, and fire services arrived made me think: just as they respond promptly in emergencies, I wanted to build a service that could be relied upon in a similar, immediate way.”
And just like that, 911 Pizza was born.
“I decided to honour the tireless efforts of these anonymous, hardworking men and women,” he added. “That’s when the name ‘911 Pizza’ came to mind — as a small gesture to recognize the commitment and sacrifice of this remarkable group”
Ebrahimi said that all the pies at 911 Pizza incorporate the numbers one and nine. Every item on its regular menu is priced at $9.11, and all of its special dishes are multiples of nine and 11.
When it comes to food, 911 Pizza offers a variety of tasty options, from classic pies to more interesting pizza creations. Examples include its line of breakfast pizzas served with an egg on top. Plus, you can find plated breakfasts, poutine, and sandwiches, all priced at $9.11.
But the 911 references don’t end there. The pizza shop is open daily from 9 am to 11 pm, with breakfast served from 9 am to 11 am. Plus, at 9:11 am and 9:11 pm, the restaurant provides a special 20% discount (9+11 per cent). Ebrahimi said this discount will soon be available on the website as well.
“To show our appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the 911 responders, we offer a permanent special discount to police officers, emergency medical responders, firefighters, and food delivery drivers. This is our way of honouring their hard work and service,” he said.
If the prices weren’t enough to entice you, 911 Pizza offers a guaranteed delivery window of nine to 11 minutes. If it takes longer, you’ll receive a free serving of fries.
And for those feeling ambitious, the spot also offers a food challenge. Eat 11 pizzas in under nine minutes and win a T-shirt, hat, and a $250 gift card. You can also reverse it, and if you eat nine pizzas in 11 minutes, you can win a T-shirt and a hat.
