Once the rain starts to pour in Vancouver, it looks as if it will continue all week.
According to a special weather alert from Environment and Climate Change Canada for central parts of Metro Vancouver, an incoming storm set to hit the south coast of BC will kick off the damp and grey week ahead.
ECCC said it expects rain to fall starting this afternoon and intensify by the evening.
The storm system will bring strong southeasterly winds on Sunday evening, ECCC added.
Between 30 to 40 mm of rain is expected to fall by Monday morning, with the possibility of rainfall exceeding those amounts locally.
ECCC said there is even a risk of thunderstorms in the late morning and the afternoon on Monday.
While the rain is predicted to ease on Monday, it could continue to be a pretty wet and dreary week.
This week, daytime temperatures are expected to range from 8°C to 12°C, while nighttime temperatures could drop to as low as 10°C to 3°C.
The City of Vancouver has received an “extreme weather alert” and has opened additional shelter spaces since Friday and will continue to do so until Monday.
Due to an extreme weather alert for heavy rainfall, additional shelter spaces will be available tonight, Nov. 8 to Monday, Nov. 11. Details below.
