Friday’s Canucks game is starting at an unusual time

Puck drop for the Vancouver Canucks tomorrow is at an unusual time.

The team’s game against the Buffalo Sabres will start at 12 pm PT. There are games starting at 10 am onwards as fourteen NHL contests will be played.

This means fans might have to miss work to watch the game. Sportsnet will be broadcasting the contest.

The Canucks are looking to get back in the win column after a tough 5-4 loss to the lowly Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. They’re in the midst of a six-game road trip and have gone 2-1 so far with wins over the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators.

The visitors will be without several key players as they deal with a variety of absences. Thatcher Demko has yet to make his return to game action, although he’s getting very close. Forward J.T. Miller is still away on personal leave and news broke this morning that Filip Hronek will miss a significant amount of time with an upper-body ailment.

Goalie Kevin Lankinen is expected to start against the Sabres and has a chance at making NHL history. He is 8-0-0 on the road so far this year. One more win will push him into a tie for the most consecutive road wins to begin a season.

The Sabres have 23 points through their first 22 games this season and are currently outside the playoff picture in the Atlantic Division. They’re led by forward Tage Thompson and defenceman Rasmus Dahlin, who are two bright, young talents.

The Canucks have another early start coming up on their schedule. They face off against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, and the puck drops at 9:30 am PT. After that, they have one more game on the road, where they take on the Minnesota Wild before coming back to Rogers Arena.
