Free Eastside Culture Crawl returns this week with 500+ artists to discover

Heads up, art lovers! One of the city’s largest art celebrations is returning this week, and everything is free to check out.

The 28th annual Eastside Culture Crawl is happening from November 14 to 17 in dozens of buildings across Vancouver’s eastside.

More than 500 artists are expected to welcome tens of thousands of visitors to their studios, making it a great opportunity to find the perfect holiday gift or home decor.

“This is an exciting time of growth and discovery,” said Esther Rausenberg, artistic and executive director of the Eastside Arts Society. “Both artists and visitors alike are eager for connection, to feel part of something bigger than ourselves.

“The Culture Crawl offers a unique opportunity to connect with our communities, to support artists in their livelihoods, and to come away inspired and reinvigorated by the countless ways in which artists explore and share their creativity with the world.”

Vancouver’s biggest visual arts festival sees artists open their doors to visitors in the neighbourhood enclosed within Columbia Street, 1st Avenue, Victoria Drive, and the Waterfront. It is considered the most densely populated community of artists in the country.

Attendees will meet a variety of artists, from emerging talent to internationally acclaimed creators. Mediums on display include painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery, and glass.

The Culture Crawl is also debuting a new pop-up exhibit that will enhance accessibility for artists working from their homes but who cannot open their studios to the public. Head to the Progress Lab to discover the five participating artists in the Crawl’s pop-up studio space.
