In March 2023, Brazillian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão announced that it would be opening its first Canadian location here in Vancouver at The Post, and naturally, people were very excited. However, nearly two years later, the company had gone mysteriously quiet about the new location, until now that is.
Many were speculating about the future of the Brazillian steakhouse’s Vancouver spot since signs for Fogo de Chão had been removed from the building, and the restaurant’s listing was removed from The Post’s website.
Additionally, when Googling “Fogo de Chão Vancouver,” the page that links to the Vancouver location displays a 404 page not found error. The same applies to the page of the chain’s Toronto location as well, which was supposed to open in early 2024.
Dished reached out to Fogo de Chão but has not heard back.
While Dished has yet to receive a response from Fogo de Chão, one person on Reddit appeared to have better luck sharing a screenshot of an email from whom they said is the Brazilian steakhouse, who said, “Unfortunately, both projects have been cancelled.” We assume that the two projects mentioned are the Vancouver and Toronto locations.

Additionally, when Dished reached out to QuadReal, the developer of The Post, in July 2024, they said they had “no updates to share at this time.”
Now, five months later, Dished contacted QuadReal again and received confirmation that Fogo de Chão is no longer opening.
“We are no longer proceeding with Fogo de Chão at The Post,” said a representative from QuadReal.
This isn’t the only food project that seems to have mysteriously gone quiet at The Post. In 2021, it shared that plans were underway to build a major food hall located on the Hamilton Street side of the building. The Joseph Richard Group was named in 2021 as the operator of said food hall, but the company has been facing financial issues. It has also closed multiple of its restaurants since 2021, like S+L Kitchen South Surrey and Livelyhood.
Since then, there have been no updates on the future of this food hall. However, The Post has still become a bit of a foodie haven with multiple pop-ups like Cookies by George, Lee’s Donuts, and Oakberry all operating in the building.
