Chau Veggie announces closure of both locations

The plant-based scene in Vancouver has suffered some casualties recently, and now another spot will be joining the list of closed eateries.

Chau Veggie Express announced on Instagram that it will be closing the doors to both of its locations after 13 years of operation.

“To every single person out there who have given us your time and energy as dear friends, family, suppliers, staff, & guests: THANK YOU. We have been so blessed to have had Chau Veggie since May 2011. We couldn’t have done it without you!!” shared the restaurant.

Chau Veggie is best known for its plant-based Vietnamese food, such as hearty soups, bowls, and fresh and crispy rolls.

“Our family would like to take this time to reflect on how to best move forward,” continued the restaurant. “Our plan is to visit the tiny Indonesian island where our family landed after escaping Vietnam in 1978 to pray and honour loved ones we have lost there. We hope you understand and we appreciate you so much. We are embracing the fall season with health, love and light!”

Chau Veggie will be closed for service at its Victoria Drive location as of Sunday, November 10. However, the restaurant shared it will offer takeout at both locations until mid-January.
