Canucks star Boeser back skating after gruesome injury: report

Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser has taken a step forward in his injury recovery.

The winger was back on the ice skating today, per CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal today on Donnie & Dhali. That’s a big step in the player’s recovery from an injury suffered after taking a dirty hit from Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot.

Jeannot hit Boeser with a late headshot that knocked the Canucks star out of the November 7 game. Boeser has not played since and the report of him skating today is the first positive news in his recovery pathway.

The NHL suspended Jeannot for three games for the play. The Kings forward recently returned to action but Boeser still remains out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

The nature of head injuries makes a recovery timeline difficult to predict. While it’s great that Boeser was able to skate today, there are still a lot of hurdles to overcome before returning to game action.

The next milestone will be returning to practice and participating fully. That will then mean Boeser is close to ready to play again.

The 27-year-old was off to a hot start this year. He had six goals and five assists in 12 games, continuing his strong goal-scoring pace from last season, when he reached the 40-goal milestone.

The Canucks anxiously await Boeser’s return as their team has been decimated by injuries. J.T. Miller has stepped away from the team indefinitely and other players are sitting out with ailments too.
