Canucks players test their acting skills in Hollywood-inspired video

The Vancouver Canucks have done it again with their newest pre-game hype video.

The team released the mini-movie to social media titled The Call of Destiny  and it’s amazing. From Quinn Hughes rocking a toque and shades to J.T. Miller fighting through an ice storm, there are a lot of great moments in this year’s edition.

Brock Boeser has some great moments and looks like he could’ve been a Hollywood star had he not become a professional athlete.

The team brought in some star power as Canadian actress Cobie Smulders is featured in the video. This is not the first time the Vancouver-born Hollywood star has been involved with the Canucks pre-game entertainment as she’s also been in previous year’s versions.

Smulders narrates different parts of the three-minute video and acts as an oracle of sorts.

The Canucks’ video team has developed a reputation as one of the best across the entire sports industry. The pre-game videos they’ve produced have been nominated for awards.

“I’ve been really enjoying seeing other teams doing more cinematic type videos, as it’s not easy to blend movies and sports and not be too cheesy,” said producer Mike Pohorly to Daily Hive back in August. “It’s a fine line, and I’ve definitely crossed it a few times, but the message underneath I’m more concerned about simply having fun and not taking ourselves so seriously.”

Fans who are lucky enough to take in a game at Rogers Arena this year will get to see the video played on the big screen prior to puck drop. You may have already seen it if you’ve attended an early-season game.
