Canucks fans were steaming mad at the refs in Minnesota

Vancouver Canucks fans were not happy after Tuesday night’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild.

The extra frame was filled with exciting plays at both ends of the ice but one play, besides the game-winning goal, had people feeling some type of way.

Forward Conor Garland picked up the puck and was turning up ice with the chance to create an odd-man rush and end the game. He then fell to the ice hard and it looked like Wild winger Kirill Kaprizov tripped him but the referees swallowed their whistles.

Kaprizov ended the game a few minutes later when he fired home a one-timer.

The play drew quite the reaction from Canucks fans on social media who were not happy at all.

There were hundreds of people flooding different social media platforms chiming in with their thoughts about that missed call, as well as a few others from throughout the game.

BC-native Kelly Sutherland was one of the officials for tonight’s game. He refereed three games back during the 2011 Stanley Cup Final and isn’t viewed favourably by many Canucks fans.

Sutherland was just a few feet away from the controversial play when it all went down and still decided it didn’t warrant a call.

Despite the missed call, the Canucks still had plenty of chances to end the game. Brock Boeser hit the post on a breakaway in overtime right before the Wild finished things off.

The single point on the night caps off this road trip with a final record of 4-1-1 for the Canucks.
