Canucks fans chanted Pettersson’s name during last night’s game

Vancouver Canucks fans were giving some love to superstar Elias Pettersson during last night’s 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

On Saturday night, Pettersson potted the tying goal against the Blackhawks off a deflected shot. This gave the fans in attendance enough reason to start a “Let’s Go Petey” chant during the ensuing play.

It was loud enough that the Canucks’ official X account took notice of it.

Pettersson has gotten off to a bit of a slow start to the season, scoring just five goals and 10 points through the first 16 games of the year. That is a bit off the 89-point pace he scored last season. It’s been a bit of a touchy subject in Vancouver to start the season, but it appears that Pettersson is starting to find his groove again.

With the goal last night, Pettersson has notched five points over his previous four games, and it is looking a lot more like the superstar Canucks fans expected.

This wouldn’t be the first time Pettersson has been the subject of a Vancouver crowd’s chanting. During last season’s second-round playoff matchup against the Edmonton Oilers, the crowd chanted the same thing to help Pettersson get going.

It’s clear that the city of Vancouver loves its Swedish superstar, and even as he struggles, many fans still believe in Pettersson’s ability to produce at a high level.

Pettersson signed a long-term deal in Vancouver for a reason, and fans are intent on letting him know they are happy to have him.
