The BC Lions are on the verge of making sweeping changes to their organization.
“There’s stuff going down,” Lions radio colour analyst Giulio Caravatta said on Donnie and Dhali this morning. “Definitely there will be some announcements I think on Monday. They’re pretty tightlipped about what’s happening.”

The Lions aren’t expected to make an announcement before Sunday’s Grey Cup game at BC Place. But it certainly sounds like the job of head coach and co-GM Rick Campbell is in jeopardy.
“There’s gonna be change. There always is change, but given what happened with the team last year, there’s gonna be some major change,” Caravatta said, adding that the changes are expected to involve the coaching staff and general manager.
The Lions have had co-general general managers, Campbell and Neil McEvoy, since Ed Hervey stepped down in 2020. Caravatta said he believes assistant general manager Ryan Rigmaiden will be promoted to GM, given he recently turned down an opportunity to interview with the Edmonton Elks.
Job #1 for the new GM will be to find a new home for one of their star quarterbacks, with most assuming that Vernon Adams Jr. is likely to get traded. Caravatta said he has heard that Edmonton, Calgary, and Saskatchewan have an interest in him.
The Lions finished the season with a 9-9 record and got bounced in the first round of the playoffs. It was a massively disappointing season, given BC started 5-1 and added Nathan Rourke and Mathieu Betts mid-season.
Just three months ago, the Lions were the betting favourites to win the Grey Cup. Instead, they’ll be watching Winnipeg and Toronto play on their home turf on Sunday.
“There’s going to be some major moves I think with the coaching staff and the way the structure of the team is..”@caravatta2 on his expectations the #BCLions will be making some major announcements on Monday.
