Are you sick of seeing every type of croissant imaginable (flat, cubed, or supersized) or weird food collaborations? The good news is that 2025 is just around the corner, and with the new year comes a whole host of new food trends to indulge in.
Pinterest has shared its annual list of trends for the new year, including some of the hottest food and beverage trends it expects to see on social media in 2025.
So if you’re wondering what’s in store, here’s a breakdown of the biggest incoming foodie trends so you can stay ahead of the curve.
Chaos Cakes
There’s been no shortage of …let’s say creative bakes on display in the foodie world over the years, and this year, sweet treats are going to be silly. Perfect piping is out, and mess in all its forms is in.
It’s time to embrace your baking failures and lean into them! We might see an influx of celebrity crush cakes (the weirder, the better) and – as one of the top searches on Pinterest revealed – rat cakes.
Rebel Floats
In a nod to the 1950s, floats are officially making a comeback. Dirty sodas took the internet by storm in 2024, partly thanks to MomTok. For Millenials and Gen-Z, the new year is likely to see even more soda reinventions.
Searches for “fruit soda” and “cream soda aesthetic” are on the rise, as are homemade soda recipes. It’s time to channel your inner Nara Smith.
Pickle Fix
The love of pickles is nothing new, with even mainstream eateries like A&W making a big dill about them. The pickle obsession might just reach new heights in 2025.
Gen-X and millenials, in particular, seem to be gravitating towards pickles, searching for everything from pickle fries, pickle cakes, pickle de gallo and even pickle margaritas. Can we blame Dua Lipa’s pickle and jalapeno Diet Coke hack for this?
Cherry Coded
While it’s not strictly a food trend, cherry will be everywhere – from makeup to menus. Think sour, tart, sweet and everything in between. If you’re a martini lover, you may just find that your fave has been cherry-infused.
Do you agree with these predictions? What foodie trends do you think we’ll see in 2025?
