More snow is on the way for parts of Metro Vancouver and Environment Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has just issued another snowfall warning.
This time, the warning has been for the North Shore, specifically North Vancouver and West Vancouver.
ECCC says the region could experience up to 10 cm of snowfall. The warning is in place now until early Monday evening.
What is to blame for this added dose of snow? Well, ECCC says it’s due to an “unstable airmass” over the region.
“An unstable airmass combined with an area of convergence over the Strait of Georgia will continue to produce flurries over West Vancouver. The highest amounts will likely occur over higher terrain and areas adjacent to Howe Sound, but other areas of the North Shore may see locally intense flurries giving reduced visibility and heavy snow accumulation,” ECCC says.
In addition to the potential for a significant blast of snowfall in the region, like other parts of Metro Vancouver, temperatures will feel very chilly tonight.
While impacted areas are expected to reach a temperature of -3˚C, the wind chill could make it feel more like -9˚C. A low of -6˚C is forecast for Tuesday, with the potential for more flurries; however, ECCC is not forecasting accumulation amounts for tomorrow.
Flurries are expected to become less intense as the day progresses, but residents are being warned that rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some areas.
If you miss the sun, ECCC predicts that North Shore residents will be treated to mostly sunny skies from Wednesday on.
