Air Canada is propelling Vancouver International Airport (YVR) into growth mode in a very big way in 2025.
Canada’s flag carrier announced today it will be launching three brand new direct, non-stop routes linking YVR with three destinations in the United States — routes that were not previously served by the airline.
These three destinations are Tampa in Florida, Raleigh in North Carolina, and Nashville in Tennessee.
Starting on June 3, 2025, Air Canada will launch a new year-round service between YVR and Tampa International Airport (TPA), providing a new way to get to Florida, specifically the state’s west coast. This also provides a new alternative way to reach Walt Disney World Resort, with TPA being just over an hour’s drive away from the theme park destinations in Central Florida.
On Tuesdays and Saturdays, flights will depart YVR at 1:30 pm and arrive at TPA at 10:12 pm. For return trips, on Wednesdays and Sundays, flights will leave TPA at 8:20 am and arrive at YVR at 11:23 am.
For the new link to North Carolina, Air Canada will launch a new summer seasonal route linking YVR with Raleigh, flying three times weekly. Starting on June 4, 2025, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, flights will depart YVR at 1:30 pm and land at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) at 9:44 pm, while return flights will depart RDU on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 8:40 am and land at YVR at 11:30 am.
Air Canada will also launch a new summer seasonal route between YVR and Nashville, Tennessee. Starting on May 1, 2025, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, flights will leave YVR at 1:10 pm and land at Nashville International Airport (BNA) at 7:42 pm, while return flights will depart BNA on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 8:15 am and land at YVR at 11:10 am.
“We are very pleased to see Air Canada’s expansive network into the US from YVR continue to grow, providing travellers with more choice, convenience and flexibility,” said Tamara Vrooman, president and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority, in a statement.
“This will be the first time in YVR’s history that our community has been directly connected to Raleigh-Durham, which is, like our region, a vibrant research, education and technology hub. These routes also provide travellers from the US with direct access to experience everything our region has to offer, including connections to a range of global destinations from YVR.”
In total, Air Canada and Star Alliance partner United Airlines will increase their seat capacity serving a total of 21 US destinations by 11% in Summer 2025, with up to 7,700 seats on 58 daily non-stop flights, including the three brand new routes.
“We are pleased to further expand our YVR hub with new year-round flights to Tampa, seasonal services to Raleigh and Nashville, and more capacity to Austin, Denver and Miami. Air Canada continues to reinforce its position as the leading carrier between Canada and the US with new flights to fast-growing metropolitan areas and sought out destinations,” said Mark Galardo, executive vice president of revenue and network planning and president of cargo for Air Canada, in a statement.
“Our robust network means customers in Western Canada have more options to explore all that the US has to offer, and for our American customers to explore beautiful British Columbia. At Air Canada’s Pacific gateway, our newest services further bolsters our sixth-freedom strategy by efficiently bridging North America and growing international destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.”
