You better watch out and you better not cry when a massive throng of Santas comes to Vancouver this weekend.
Dozens of people dressed in festive Santa suits are expected to attend the annual SantaCon Vancouver on Saturday, December 14.
The free public event takes a group in high Christmas spirits on a walk around Vancouver, stopping at several bars and pubs for a drink along the way. Though jolly old elves do need to be 19+ to take part.
“SantaCon is a participatory event,” explained event organizers on the official Facebook event. “Entertain us! Bring something Santa will enjoy: candy, games, performances, signs, music, or a costume that will wow us.”
Previous SantaCon events have drawn huge crowds of hundreds of participants.
The lineup of stops varies slightly from year to year, with this weekend’s event slated to start at 12:30 pm at CRAFT Beer Market in False Creek. It will also be followed up with a singing of “naughty carols” and photos outside of Science World.
Other places to see Santa Claus this weekend include the Ivanhoe at 2 pm (overflow at London Bar), London Bar at 4 pm (overflow at Ivanhoe), No. 5 Orange at 6 pm (alternative the Cambie), and Funky Winker Beans at 8:30 pm (overflow at Blarney Stone).
The evening wraps up with Santa Karaoke at Funky Winker Beans at 9:30 pm, which is sure to have lots of holiday hits.
Organizers encourage participants to wear anything festive that fits the spirit and note that just wearing a Santa hat with regular clothes is boring.
They also remind everyone that Santa obeys the law, doesn’t mess with kids or the police, and doesn’t drink and drive.
