The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called out to Richmond after a 71-year-old woman was found dead in her home.
The Richmond RCMP says it received a call requesting a wellness check around 5 p.m. Friday.
When officers got to the home at Princeton Avenue near Railway Avenue, they found the woman and her 38-year-old son.
Because of evidence found at the scene, the son was arrested, police say.
“This is an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the public,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.
“Anyone with information about the victim or anyone else involved in this incident is asked to contact IHIT immediately, as we work to build a timeline of events.”
IHIT can be reached at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc-gc-ca.
