The Kelowna RCMP says a woman is in custody after a violent home invasion Saturday afternoon.
Mounties say officers responded to reports of a break in at a home on Kelglen Crescent around 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 7.
One resident, a 28-year-old woman, was stabbed “several times” by an unknown suspect who ran away from the scene when confronted by other residents of the home, police say.
Police say the victim is in stable condition after being transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Later that afternoon, Mounties arrested a woman matching the suspect’s description on Richter Street at Clement Avenue.
The suspect, a 24-year-old woman, was charged with aggravated assault. Police say she remains in custody until her court appearance Tuesday morning.
The Kelowna RCMP says investigators are working to prepare to meet the suspect in court.
