Whistler RCMP seeking family and identity of found child

Mounties in Whistler are turning to the public in an attempt to identify the family of a child who has been found so he can be returned to their care.

Police received a report Saturday around 10 p.m. of an unaccompanied chiled at the Dairy Queen at 4338 Main Street. He is believed to be around 12 years old.

The boy is completely non-verbal and was found barefoot, the RCMP says.

“While the investigation has continued through the night, there is no indication where the child came from or who his family is,” police said in a news release.

The boy is described as having short brown hair and brown eyes. He was found wearing a green T-shirt with a button collar and heather-grey shorts.

Anyone who recognizes the boy is urged to call the Whistler RCMP at 604-905-3044 immediately.
