West Van police arrest man carrying fake gun

A bus passenger carrying what turned out to be a fake gun was arrested by West Vancouver police.

On April 6, officers say they received reports of a passenger carrying a gun. Police then located the bus and arrested the passenger.

Upon further inspection, police say the gun was determined to be fake and the suspect was released pending further investigation.

“We want the public to know that the possession of firearms or objects that appear to be firearms is treated as an urgent public safety threat by WVPD” said Sgt. Chris Bigland. “We are grateful that this incident was resolved safely and that no one was hurt.”

Police say the investigation remains in its early stages and they can’t release any more details at this time.
